The Couture Fashion Logo (Walter D. Joseph)

Fashion is certainly a pivotal ingredient for most peoples approach towards their style and appearance. And in such a competitive market, some designers have over time earned a more prestigious ranking than others. These highly adored designers are the creators of new trends in fashion, some of which have attained an iconic status because of their world-renowned popularity. But what truly is the cause of such fanfare? Some designer logos have achieved universal recognition unlike most others. What is it about their logos that perpetuates high-end fashion, glamour, style, chic, runway and elegance? Here are four high-end designer companies with logos that rule the world of fashion.

The Louis Vuitton Logo

Louis Vuitton is very famous for its high priced handbags, luggage, designer clothing and other accessories. The Louis Vuitton designer logo is widely known and recognized. It is a stylized Japanese inspired floral motif, representing the brand’s initials. The font used for this logo is rather distinguished, having a very attractive appeal, and effectively manages to make the initials stand out.

The Chanel Logo

‘The house of Chanel’ is a popular French designer house established in Paris, founded by Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel. The Chanel fashion house is world famous for its line of clothing, perfumes and other fashion accessories.
The Chanel designer logo is an interlocking back-to-back, overlapping double C. Coco Chanel herself designed it in 1925, based on her own initials. This logo is one of the most famous and widely recognized logos in the world. It is constantly appearing on Chanel’s accessories, bags, and luggage. Due to its boldness and simplicity, it has managed to leave an imprint on many people’s minds and perceptions of style and fashion. This designer logo is classic, unique and successfully portrays the house of Chanel as an iconic fashion brand.

The Versace Logo

The Versace designer logo is an interesting illustrative designer logo. It is believed to be linked to Greek mythology, which shows the snake-entwined head of Medusa, an devilish character from Greek mythology. This designer logo pays homage to Gianni Versace, the founder of the company, who was obsessed with classical themes. The logo depicts a sense of seduction and history and symbolizes the Versace goddess. The logo eloquently projects the Versace image for being sultry, glamorous and over-the-top. Due to its unique design the logo itself looks highly artistic and bold when used on Versace products. The Versace brand is famous for creating risqué, sensuous and beautiful clothes.

The Givenchy Logo

Givenchy is mostly famous for its line of perfumes as well as clothing and jewelry. The Givenchy logo is rather simple, but very inviting and expressive. It nevertheless leaves a forceful impression on the viewer. The logo consists of a quadruple ‘G’ forming a larger square. It is a bold linear logo yet it creates a sense of fluidity. This symbol is reminiscent of Celtic jewelry with a similar sort of complex and delicate design; the symmetrical nature employed is extremely appealing too.

How do you all feel about the role a company's logo plays in its level of success or marketability? Do you think there is truly a correlation, or would you say that a company’s level of product plays more of a role in helping to establish its perceived reputation and perception? Also, what other companies can you think of that owe a lot of their success to their logo design?

I have to agree with you Walter.  So much unconscious attention is paid to the appearance of a logo.  I bet most people don’t even realize that they are a fan of a particular brand simply because of the logo that company has branded.  I can remember when I was in high school and everyone wanted to wear Tommy H. or Polo or even Roca Wear. Everybody wanted to wear the clothes that had the coolest or freshest logo or the most reputatble logo for that matter.  Now that I am older and wiser, I realize the impact that a logo has on the brand of a company.  Every major and even minor clothing label has a distinct logo that they use to try to differentiate themselves from other designers and in an attempt to attract a specific demographic of people/consumers.  The logo is much more vital than one truly imagines.  Thanks for the post!

This blog is sooooo true.  I never took the time to consider the actual logo and its importance on consumerism.  I will admit, when shopping I spend a lot of time looking at logos and making my decision; I guess that decision is truly based on the “brand” of the clothing.  However, it all relates to the logo which is used to market the brand.  I am glad you included urls to the different logos; my favorite is the Chanel logo!

I am an avid Roca Wear consumer.  In fact that is all that I wear.  I blame much of my infatuation with this particular clothing line on the great job they have done marketing their product.  From Jay-Z’s cool swagger to the actual design and fit of the products.  Let me not forget to mention the very appealing, yet subtile design of the Roca Wear logo.  Together these elements of fashion, design and brandig have created a clothing line that not only myself but millions of people all over the world find comfort in.

I really like the look of the Chanel logo.  It is classy, yet classic and feminine all at the sametime.  That is likely why I buy a lot of Chanel products.
