When I first looked at this drawing, my instincts was to reach out an touch the lioness. But self preservation got the better of me. The whole scene looks so real and inviting. Thank you for blessing me with your talent.

I would like to ask if you use any kind of photo / images to go by when drawing your artwork, or do you draw these detailed images “from your head”, so to speak. The detail is incredible. Well done.

Vicki, yes, I use photos. My better drawings are based on photos that I took myself and can copy directly. The others, including this one, are based on several (sometimes dozens) of photos that I find online. I usually get the idea in my head first, then try to find references that will help me with proportions and shading.
