Experiment with another composition similar to this one, but ‘invert’ the background; begin with dark shades on the edges and a lighter background immediately behing the main subject. I am not certain, but in my mind’s eye, I believe it will greatly enhance and emphasize the subject. It may also convey a greater sense of dimension. It’s worth a try!
