This is a videogame character made for the Dominance War 4 contest.
Exactly 10,000 triangles, and 2048 textures (Normal Spec Diffuse Gloss Glow Reflectivity)
I wanted to make an incredibly disturbing non-sentient Abomination, who devours souls through collecting of eyeballs ("the eyes are the windows to the soul").
The dark themes are inspired by the works of Dave Mckean, Floria Sigismondi, and JK Potter. |

Old model I decided to texture and render.
The base model is built in 3dsmax and then detailed and textured in Mudbox.
Some additional texture work was done in Photoshop and the final image was then rendered in one beauty pass using mentalray.
The lighting is a simple 3 light setup using large area lights with a pretty dark environment map and some final gather. |

This image was created for a spec movie poster. I used ZBrush to create, pose, and texture the characters, 3ds max and VRay to light and render, and Photoshop to create textures as well as do compositing of elemental layers, color correction, curve adjustment and other final tweaks. Hair effects were also painted by hand in Photoshop. It took me over two months to complete. The final render was done at 6667x6000 |
