A typical southern belle of the “country” variety.

This is a scratchboard drawing I made after being able to watch these birds.  I wanted to show their behavior, as they were perched in a large group in a tree overhanging the water.  They hunched over when they walked and stretched their necks back and forth. I used my observations as well as photographs from bird books.

I like the stark black and white and the perfect round whiteness of the moon
